Moistello — Savings Circles on the Stellar Blockchain

A decentralized savings-circle platform live on Stellar Mainnet — trustless Ajo/Esusu groups powered by Soroban smart contracts, with on-chain reputation (MoiScore).

Moistello takes community savings circles — Ajo, Esusu, ROSCA-style groups that move billions informally across Africa and beyond — and gives them an immutable, trustless backbone on the Stellar blockchain.

The problem

Savings circles work. The community, the discipline, the pooled capital — the model has worked for centuries. What breaks is trust. Organizers run off with the pool. Members stop paying after their turn. Nothing is written down, and one bad actor poisons the well. Meanwhile, over 1.3 billion adults globally remain unbanked.

The solution

Moistello replaces the trust layer with code. Group rules are enforced by Soroban smart contracts on Stellar — not by a person, and not by policy. No organizer can run off with the pool; that’s an architectural fact, not a promise.

Why Stellar

Ethereum-style fees collapse a $10 weekly contribution model. Stellar settles in 3–5 seconds at fractions of a cent and was built for exactly this: real-world financial access, cross-border payments, and everyday money.

Live on Mainnet

Since June 15, 2026, Moistello runs on Stellar Mainnet with five live smart contracts: SavingsVault, MilestoneNFT, Reputation, Governance, and MoistelloCore.

MoiScore: financial identity for the unbanked

Every on-time contribution builds a MoiScore (0–1000) — a portable, on-chain financial identity tracking streaks, completions and volume. Higher scores unlock larger circles and better terms. For someone who has never had a bank account, it’s the beginning of a financial track record that doesn’t require a bank’s permission to create.

The economics

  • No fees to create or join a circle.
  • A 0.5% protocol fee on payouts — taken when you receive the pool.
  • Late payments trigger configurable penalties; collateralized circles can slash stakes. Trust becomes unnecessary.

Open source

All contracts, backend and frontend are open source under Apache 2.0 — auditable and forkable by the communities they serve.

Outcome

A product that meets people where they save today — and gives them a verifiable, modern rail for money movement that the informal model could never offer.
